If I could, I would give 4.5 stars, but I didn't want to give it just 4, so I gave 5. I paid $199.00 with free prime shipping so my review is based on that price point. If I paid the $270 + tax that it is currently priced at, I would have been disappointed.I wanted an IKEA Karlstad which are priced competitively at $399. Problem is, I live in a rural area, the closest ikea is a 3.5 hour drive, and shipping to my region from ikea is $350 for anything. You could buy a spice rack and it would be $350, or you could buy a whole house full of furniture and it is $350. This is very similar in style to the karlstad, cheaper, and free shipping, so I pulled the trigger. It will serve as as a temporary couch until I can get to an IKEA or move to a city that has one, then be moved to a guest room/office. It definitely pulls off the mid-century modern look. Not the most comfortable thing, but impressively comfortable for a $200 futon. I fell asleep on it last night. The cushions offer good support, and the size is great for me at 6'0". I will add some throw pills to give the couch some depth and to add some comfort. The fabric is nice to the touch and has a nice appearance (I got the grey one). It it has a nice texture. It doesn't scream "this is a futon" and looks more like a couch, at least when pushed against a wall. It can easily serve as a primary sofa in a small apartment, contrary to what the other reviews say. I have sat on $400 serta couches that are less comfortable. I suspect, though, the serta-type couches will hold up better over time. Assembly was easy to do by myself. Took me less than 45 minutes, though I used a ratchet rather than the tiny wrench that comes with it. It would have taken considerably longer trying to assemble it with the provided tool. You won't find a better futon for 199 if you are looking for the mid-century modern look, You would be hard pressed to find a "real" couch with a mid-century modern look for under $500 outside of IKEA, so if you are on a budget, or have limited options in your area, I might consider paying the $270 asking price, particularly if it won't get much use.The middle legs ARE plastic, but mine were brown. Some reviews said theirs were black. They are visible when looking at the couch from most angles, and they do somewhat detract from the look, but that is the nature of futons and should be expected. The legs don't look "cheap" or "painted" like some other reviews said. They ARE cheap, and ARE painted/veneered, but they look real and nice, even up close.Cons:Cushions are wrinkled, probably due to the fabric not being pulled very tight. Putting it in "couch mode" makes this worse, as it compresses the cushions at the bottom/back. That said, I think it might be something that is the result of being folded and stuffed in a box and might get better with time and use, and is not bad enough to knock off a star, particularly if you plan on adding some pillows, which will hide the problem.Overall I am pleased with the purchase. I don't have any photos yet, but it looks exactly as pictured.
For the price you pay for this futon I think it is a good bang for your buck. It’s $300 dollars worth of stylish, and sturdiness.Things to keep in mind: It would not be great for being the focal point of your main living space. Because the zippered back conceals the futon legsIt need to be against a wall, it is comfy enough if you throw on some pillows but I don’t think entertaining on it or everyday lounging would be ideal at all. In it’s bed form it’s too small for a tall adult and two narrow for two bigger adults, plus the seams make it feel very uneven without some sort of cushy topper. That all said though, if you just want something decent and small to throw in an office For occasional use (like us) or a teenagers roomFor sleepover guests and sitting on to play video games this is not a bad choice and it looks modern enough to appear outwardly that you spent more. Pretty easy to put together with two people but with one person it would be a little more headache, but still doable.I gave it a review score based on what I paid, if I had spent more I’d dock it a lot more for its quirks, but since I assumed a lot of this before I purchased it it’s fine.My only gripe is I ordered navy and it is not a deep navy like in the product photos. It’s more of a medium ashy denim. It’s still worked in the space so I’m keeping it but if you are strictly looking for a navy sofa this isn’t it.
Right off the bat, let me say, this product is complete over priced garbage, dangerous, and a scam! I am going to list everything wrong with it.1. The measurements listed on the photos are all wrong. Still are, even after I notified them of this.2. The material its made from is extremely cheap parts and will break like nothing. The wooden legs are brittle and crumble easily. They will also bend if you try to move the thing. Some of the holes have pretty much already stripped out.3. It is very unsafe because the locking feature does not work half of the time and it will fall back when you go to sit on it, and the only thing to hold it together is a piece of freaking Velcro?! are you kidding me?4. Not safe to lay on at all because The two 'legs' that hold the back in place are just cheap pvc and will break/bend with a little amount of force, so you could be laying on it, the legs bend, and whole thing tips over on top of you!5. It is extremely uncomfortable. There is pretty much no cushioning/padding in the thing at all, if you sit down on it two hard you will bruise your butt/tale bone.6. They have no return or costumer service for their company, the only number they have is to a parts store.7. The product said it had a 90 day return/warranty policy. This was a complete lie. I tried to contact amazon about it and they said someone could come out and package the product and return it them self. The problem here is that we would not get the refund until the product was returned/delivered to their companies business/building. Sounds like a total scam to me. Especially on a $240 purchase. If I am returning and getting refunded I want the refund within a few days, not weeks/months. I decided to also decline the package service, because I dont want the company to just get the piece of junk back and resell it to some one else, because that is all they will do. So we decided to give it one more try and just keep the thing, but it has gotten to the point where it is just to dangerous to even have in the house anymore. I look on the product to start a return again, and now it is gone/closed? what happened to the 90 day return policy?8. It hurt my mothers hip!So in closing, we got scammed, this product is unsafe and should not be sold, especially for the insanely high price they have it for. We still want a refund, dont know if we will get it, and we are not returning because it is going in the trash so that no one else can get injured by it. We honestly think it was used and repackaged. The seller should be reported for this.
