I have been doing Shibari for many years been in the BDSM community for 35 years so I have seen a LOT of rope! I love this rope for uplines! Its a bit thick and loose laid for body ties but you want a loose laid thick hemp for uplines so the rope does not take a hard bend over the ring! Hard bends from tight laid rope weaken the rope at the bend loose twisted rope flows better over the ring. I still use a 3/4" thick ring so the bend is not too tight. Hemp is around twice the strength of jute and this is 8mm instead of 6mm so its breaking strength is easily over 300#. The metal ends are not an issue if you have good handling skills but if you are a sloppy rope thrower cut them off and tie a thistle or overhand knot in the end. Otherwise your bottom may wind up like a pirate with an eye patch! I prepare this rope the same as jute. I rough it over a ring by winding it around itself three times and sawing it against itself from one end to the other in short strokes. Then I singe it lightly with a torch to remove the fuzz and then run it between beeswax blocks twice. Then I singe again to melt in the wax and then run it through a cloth moistened with Jojoba oil and Egyptian amber, Dragons blood or Nag Champa candle scent( My bottoms prefer Egyptian amber as it leaves a wonderful scent trigger behind!) This rope, properly conditioned holds frictions well and this is my second set of four bundles from this supplier. I wear out upline rope about once every two years (100 to 200 ties or so) so this is my go to rope for uplines!

I originally got these for some shower fun. As a seamstress, I knew how to dry this material after it was wet, so I felt confident in using them in the shower. After using them though, I will say that I need a pair for outside. They are they’re super comfortable super easy to get in and out of, great safety release.

It took some time to find this cordage but I was very pleased to have finally located it. I was impressed with the construction of the cords as they are a 60:1 twist of younger aged hemp and a distinctive, natural aroma. Being used to a 6 mm working width, I found the 8 mm worked more effectively and more comfortably for my needs. The fibers are soft—even the small ones and are comfortable on the skin. I encourage you to treat this product before more than 10 uses as it may absorb many of the oils of its advertised application. A rub of Hemp oil will bring it back to life.Novice masters may discover the need for binding clothes on sensitive skin but some subjects may prefer the deep pressure. Nevertheless, closely monitor circulation, color, temperature and breathing. Be safe!
